Art at the Distillery

Posted Apr 7, 2017

We’re welcoming spring on the Authentic Seacoast with our first Art at the Distillery show. This week long special event opens with a reception on Saturday, April 15th and continues until Saturday, April 22nd. The reception and event are open to the general public.  Refreshments are offered.

Art at the Distillery features watercolour paintings and sketches of places of worship in Guysborough County by our own Glynn Williams. An avid painter in his spare time, Glynn has been captivated by the authenticity and beauty of our region’s historic churches and the vital role they place on the Eastern Shore.

“Our churches remain an integral part of the history and traditions of the authentic seacoast,” said Glynn in talking about the show. “These places of worship play an important role in the fabric of our communities. They are beautiful structures that bring people together who share common values and traditions. They are important to the civic and historical landscape of the Eastern Shore. However, their continued existence is perilous given demographic and other trends. The purpose of this exhibit is to humbly pay tribute to those before us and to those who, with optimism, fortitude and spirit built and sustain these wonderful structures.”

The paintings and sketches in the show are available for purchase.  A portion of the sale proceeds will be donated to the featured churches to support their community efforts. The show runs from April 15 to 22 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

An opening reception will take place from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 15. People interested in attending are asked to RSVP at 902-533-2078.

We look forward to welcoming you to the show at the distillery and to celebrating the arrival of spring.
